Tomczyk Makes BMW M6 His Daily Driver
The 2011 DTM champion from Rosenheim, Martin Tomczyk, has left nothing to chance and with the precision of a professional racing driver has adapted the high-performance sports car developed by the BMW M GmbH to suit his own personal style and to deliver outstanding performance.
Martin Tomczyk found the ideal possibilities to do this in the range of BMW M Performance accessories for the models BMW M5, BMW M6 Coupe, BMW M6 Convertible and BMW M6 Gran Coupe now available in combinations designed exclusively for each specific model.
In a workshop located on the premises of the BMW Munich plant, Tomczyk actively helped to transform the exclusive high-performance automobile into an individually configured, one-of-a-kind car.
The components he chose, among a couple others, also include the BMW M Performance exhaust silencer system. This sports exhaust system, which was developed by the BMW M GmbH in collaboration with the company Akrapovič and is made completely from titanium, is offered both for the BMW M5 and for all variants of the BMW M6, enhancing even further the characteristic sound of the 412 kW/560 hp high-revving V8 power unit.
The unmistakable look of the BMW M6 Gran Coupe, which is finished in the colour Frozen Black metallic, is completed by BMW M Performance front and rear strips.
“Really cool,” says the 2011 DTM champion when commenting on the result of the individualisation. “The BMW M6 really does have tremendous power,” Tomczyk adds, “and with BMW M Performance accessories, its outstanding sportiness is expressed even more intensively.”
Anyone who appreciates that fun-to-drive factor in cars would love to do exactly this – rom the racetrack to the road – and back again as Martin Tomczyk.

Nissan Celebrates September 2013 as GT Academy’s Mega Month
September 2013 was one of the biggest months in the history of GT Academy. As Nissan Motorsport competed on tracks across the globe, the next generation of NISMO Athletes was crowned at GT Academy Race Camps at Silverstone.
During the last four weeks, competitors from Europe, the U.S., Russia and Germany have fought through blood, sweat and tears to follow in the footsteps of drivers like Lucas Ordonez and Jann Mardenborough. The four new GT Academy graduates will now set out on Nissan’s intensive driver development program to ready them for the rigors of competition.
Race Camp is a massive operation that takes place annually at Silverstone. The competitors are put through their paces in a series of grueling challenges from fitness tests, psychological tests, circuit driving, stock car driving, traffic tests, theory tests and a particularly muddy assault course. With evictions taking place throughout Race Camp it is a real survival of the fittest.
This is the fifth year of GT Academy, and the program has become a bona fide route into a career in motorsport. In 2008, just 25,000 people entered GT Academy (Europe), but word soon spread and the second competition in 2010 attracted a staggering 1.1 million entries. The 2008 GT Academy winner was Lucas Ordonez who has just added the Blancpain Endurance Series’ Pro-Am Driver’s Championship title to his long list of triumphs.
Maybe it wasn’t such a stupid idea after all.
